1. Raise the front wheel off the ground using a suitable prop. 2. Loosen the caliper stopper bolt lock nut. 3. Using a suitable screw driver, turn the stopper bolt in direction A (CCW) until the friction pad contacts the brake disc. When the wheel is rotated, slight drag should be noticed. 4. I always thought my Ninja 250R was hard to push and like you said, hard to spin the wheels freely. I'm not 100% sure but I think this is just how they come from the factory. To add to this, I found my front axel was waay over torqued from the factory so check your torque specs. 1. level 2.

Good Evening, I was performing some cleaning maintenance on my bike and replaced my rear brake pads today, and after putting the wheel back on it was very difficult to spin. I redid the entire process several times and I keep getting the same results. I have a 2007 2 Gen. Any ideas what could be.

Clymer lists torque on the axle at 51-65 ft/lbs so they should be tight and the wheel will still spin freely if all is correct. A lot of guys make the mistake of having the tangs in the speedo drive not lined up correctly with the slots in the wheel. It causes the drive to not seat fully and it shows up right away when you try to tighten the axle. New brake pads - wheel won't spin freely - Front Page.

Why is it not spinning, rotor rubbing, bearings worn, forks not aligned may cause the pads to rub on the rotor. Greasing the axel won't help because the wheel spins on the bearings, the brake pads may drag a little as well. Rear wheel especially may not spin freely when new, fresh grease in the freehub and bearings etc. the front wheel should be much freer, but again the bearings will be fully greased which does add a little drag it *is* possible that the bearings are a bit too tight, probably they will be cup and cone ones which are easily adjusted, but tbh. Yes, something isn't turning freely. It's either the front wheel, the back wheel, or the pedals and chain. Lift the bike off the ground and turn the front wheel by hand. If it doesn't turn very freely, it could be the hand-brake is dragging or the hub bearing is too tight. Try the back wheel in both directions.

Yes. stinkwheel wrote: Brake discs usually do bind slightly which would stop the wheel spinning freely. They shouldn't bind too much though. Agreed - If you spin the wheel hard - you should certainly get a lot more than 1 rev. This extra friction will slow you down, as well as overheat the brake components.

In this case, you will have to do a hall test. To do so, you have to flip your hub motor backward. This is because the motor has a clutch that prevents the wheel from rotating the motor. And then plug the hub motor wires in and power it on. Find out if your electric bike motor spinning freely or it coggs. A properly-functioning caliper on a 550 should NOT DRAG AT ALL. I can spin the front wheel on both of mine and they spin freely until I touch the brake. Keep riding it like it is and you're going to overheat and warp your brake rotor. Make sure the REAR wheel bearings exhibit no side-play whatsoever.

Let the wheel spin and note where it comes to stop. Once again, hold on to the side which is nearest the ground, and mark it with a tape, chalk, pen, or pastel, and note that directly across the heaviest area of the wheel is the lightest part. Hold the heaviest part that you have marked in the wheel and turn it 45 degrees.

Also, at least for my 250, you had to make sure the speedometer housing was installed correctly (about a 20 degree range), otherwise the wheel wouldn't spin properly; make sure you're installing that correctly. It may be different on the 500, but the bikes are very similar, so I would doubt it: 250 Front Wheel Install Guide.

Step 1 - Put the Motorcycle in Position. Strap down the back of the bike to hold it in place then put the jack under the front frame of your motorcycle to lift the front wheel. When lifting the motorcycle, make sure that it is in the right level to give you easy access to the front wheel. See to it that the motorcycle is also in a secure and. 2. Inside your rear wheel is what is called a free hub. It has a ratcheting mechanism that allows you to pedal backwards while conversely engaging when you pedal forward so to transfer pedal force to the wheel. I've been stuck on a trail more than once due to a free hub failing to engage. Unfortunately your free hub is generally not servicable. Saved $ by taking the wheels off myself and bringing them to cyclegear. Now that they are back on the front wheel doesn't spin freely, basically the brake pads are rubbing a little. As for brakes, I've had my share of issues with them, and there's a number of failure modes. 1.) Sticking slides. These are no big deal. The front wobbling side-to-side is usually the result of the wheel being off-center or loose. If the spacers were in wrong, I would think that both front calipers/pads would drag. Check the free movement of the wheel without calipers mounted. Then mount one at a time. Also check that the rotors still look true and not bent. 3. bounce the front end to let the forks align to the axle 4. left pinch bolts OP: while everything is loose (before tightening everything up again) see if the wheel spins freely. It should go around at least once or so before stopping. Then try again after tightening up all the bolts and see if anything changes. ToyoLuv said: Perfectly normal. You're thinking about a rear wheel drive car. The car is front wheel drive. You will feel the resistance of the transmission when turning the wheel. Go spin the rear wheels and those will be as you're describing. Note this is a stick shift and it was out of gear at the time.

Greetings fellow motorcyclists! I might have an issue with rear wheel spinning while bike is on stand. I have pit-bull stands (rear and front). While bike is on both rear and front stands, the rear wheel doesn't spin freely at all. While bike is on rear stand only, the rear wheel spins but tough. Here is first video, sorry for arcane language (rear and front stands).
